Learn to Sail with Skill and Confidence

At Copenhagen Sailing Academy, we offer practical, hands-on sailing courses in English with 50 hours of training at sea. The aim is to make you a skilled, confident and safe sailor — able to take responsibility for a sailing boat and the people on board.

You will learn to:

• Sail in different wind and weather conditions
• Handle and manoeuvre a boat under sail and engine
• Tack and gybe efficiently and safely
• Trim the sails, sail efficiently and make the most of the wind
• Perform man-overboard manoeuvres under sail

Sailing at Night

Night sailing is part of the course. In darkness, distances become harder to judge, familiar landmarks disappear and navigation lights become essential. It is a very different sailing experience — and an important part of becoming a competent sailor.

Sail Fast and Safe

Understanding sail trim, balance and boat handling will make you a faster and safer sailor. You will learn to anticipate situations, maintain control and plan your sailing based on weather, distance and estimated passage time.

Danish Certificate of Competency

You can choose to take the practical examination for the Danish Certificate of Competency, conducted by an independent examiner. The theoretical examination and VHF radio certificate are offered as a separate weekend course in November 2026.

Weekend 1

• Saturday 10/10/2026 · 09:00–18:00
• Sunday 11/10/2026  · 09:00–18:00

Weekend 2

• Friday 16/10/2026 · 16:30–02:00 — Night sailing followed by an overnight stay on the boat
• Saturday 17/10/2026 · 11:00–18:00 — Breakfast on board before sailing
• Sunday 18/10/2026 · 09:00–17:00 — Practical examination from 15:00
